Covid-19 has brought the country in an unexpected economic graph and the movement is one such step to bid support to the country. This is one such initiative as was taken during the time of the Freedom struggle which was “Swadeshi and Boycott movement”.

The Government urges the Consumer to make India a self-reliant India. The prominent part of the idea is to promote the ideology of becoming more dependent on the local or self-made products which are available within our radius of 1–2 Km or less.

Positive Impacts

The step can serve as a boon to the people looking for jobs. It may help increase in Employment OpportunitiesIndia is a young nation and such a move will strengthen the nation as a whole as the youth will get multiple employment opportunities. Ultimately, the people living below the poverty line may get access to showcase their talents too. This process can help in eradicating poverty by giving the minimum access of livelihood to the poor people as now they will be the Seller of their products. The local brands like Amul, Dabur, Godrej, Tata will get an extra edge and consumers shall buy it with pride since the sentiments of the country are involved within.

The government’s initiative may attract foreign companies to invest in our products and hence the flow of money can increase. It could lead to the optimum utilization of resources and skills as the people of all ages whether young or old and women can utilize the skills they have like handicrafts etc to give a quality product. The spirit of self-reliance shall make the country united at each front and the feeling of patriotism will increase among the countrymen.

It is time to trust our indigenous industries, resources, and entrepreneurs.

Challenges

The government needs to relax the norms for the industries and also look forward to the challenges faced by the MSMEs. The Intellectual Property rules need to be relaxed and should be made more user friendly.

Consumers may face a quality issue and this area can’t is overlooked upon. We need to ensure that the quality is maintained and the cost is kept at an optimum level otherwise it will increase the Inflation in the market.

India is a developing nation and during this time of pandemic when the economy is shaken, the steps taken by the government shall not be criticized but followed. This step shall act as a building block of the nation.
