What is SVAMITVA Scheme (Property Cards Distribution)- All Key Points You Should Know


Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the physical distribution of property cards under the SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages And Mapping With Improvised Technology In Village Areas) scheme via videoconferencing that enables rural masses to use the property as a financial asset.

Physical distribution of the Property Cards will be undertaken by the respective state governments.­­­ The move is aimed at enabling owners to use the property as a financial asset for availing loans and other financial benefits.

Features of the Scheme:
The SVAMITVA scheme will bring financial security to the citizens in rural India by enabling them to use their property as a financial asset for taking loans and other financial benefits. The scheme will also aid in the creation of accurate land records for rural planning. Furthermore, the scheme will further increase the creation of survey infrastructure and GIS maps that can be leveraged by any department for their use, the release said.


About the Scheme:
The Scheme is being implemented across the country in a phased manner and over a period of four years that is 2020 to 2024 the scheme will eventually cover around 6.62 lakh villages of the country, the PMO release said. About 1 lakh villages in the States of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Karnataka, and few border villages of Punjab and Rajasthan, along with the establishment of Continuous Operating System (CORS) stations’ network across Punjab and Rajasthan, are being covered in the Pilot phase (2020-21), the PMO informed.

Benefits of PM Svamitva Yojana 2020:

1) PM Svamitva Yojana scheme will end confusion and fight over the property.

2) The Svamitva Yojana scheme will ensure proper planning for development in villages/panchayats.

3) In rural areas, the central government will keep track of all Panchayati works online.

4) Union government will perform mapping of each and every house in the villages with the use of drones.

After houses are mapped, beneficiaries will get a PM Svamitva Yojana certificate. Accordingly, people would be able to avail bank loans in villages over their properties just like people in urban areas takes bank loans. On the basis of this scheme, the central govt. will provide awards on the Panchayati Raj Diwas from next year. This scheme aims to upgrade the people in rural areas.

Complete process to apply online the PM Svamitva Scheme 2020-21:
Step 1: First visit the official PM Svamitva Yojana online registration portal to be launched soon.
Step 2: After making a login, applicants can find out the link to new registration.
Step 3: Accordingly, applicants can fill the details one by one on the registration form and also upload the required documents.
Step 4: Finally, applicants can click on the “Submit” button.

One can then take a printout of the completed application form for future reference.
Then the notification regarding the completion of the PM Svamitva Yojana applies online process would be sent on the registered mobile number.
