Good time to Invest in India : PM says

While addressing the US-India Business Council, Modi said India offers a perfect combination of openness, opportunities, and options. Modi said that during the time of pandemic also India has attracted FDI of more than $20 billion in the April-July period. He further added that India and America can play a vital role in the recovery of the global economy and asked American investors to invest in India.

With a 1.33 Billion population (roughly one-sixth of the world), India is a huge untapped market.

India provides a cheap and young Labour source when compared to other countries and hence adds a very optimistic atmosphere for investment. India is today a low labour cost country with a huge demographic advantage with 65% of the total population below 35 years. This puts it at a huge advantage for producing cheaper products for the global market. With increased labour cost, China is no longer competing with India here. This will help improve profitability for foreign investors. The government has also relaxed its norms of FDI and FII thus making it easy for the Investors to look beyond the opportunities. India has a ready pool of executives and technocrats. It however requires technology for sale of export worthy products. This can be brought in by foreign companies. Here in India, people are open to changes and new technology. It is a land of opportunity and the nation which can be trusted. People in India get attracted to anything which makes their life easier and has immense potential to adopt new technology like the Internet of things, Blockchain, etc.

India's banking sector is fairly mature and transparent with respect to supply, products, and reach. Also, the Indian economy is agrarian in nature and growing faster due to diverse agriculture patterns. India’s food processing sector is expected to be worth over half a trillion by 2025.

India’s Health sector is growing faster than 22% every year. India is evolving into a gas-based economy and hence will offer a great opportunity for America to invest in the clean energy sector. India and America have already built a robust pharma sector partnership and there is a higher scope for American companies to invest a larger amount to the health sector.

Today's foreign investment is primarily due to positive sentiments created mainly by the dynamism of Mr. Modi and the single party getting majority in Lok-sabha. It remains to be seen how fast Government decisions culminate into quick actions in our democratic setup.
